Happy Fall, lovers!!! Sorry I’ve been a little MIA on the blog, but now that I’ve gotten my class up and running and the craziness of September is behind me, I’m back! Fall is arguably the best season for a number of reasons, but the obvious reason for me is the clothes! I am such a layerer (is that a word? I think no, but just go with me) and being able to throw a blazer or leather jacket on with a  pair of booties and run out the door is just the best. Speaking of booties, I have been on the hunt for a great pair of brown booties since last year, and I finally found them! Check these out (they also come in other colors) and I promise you won’t be disappointed. Also, I got this blazer/coat/not sure what to call it but you get the idea from Zara in London when my mom and I went this summer and I’m so glad I did! And I’m so glad they still have it so you guys can share in the amazingness! Now off to arrange my pumpkins… :)

One of the best things about summer in NYC is the nightlife…Though I wouldn’t exactly call myself an expert since my idea of a Friday night well-spent is grabbing 16 Handles and watching a movie on the couch. That being said, I do like to go out and dance every once in a while with my girlfriends. And on those occasions, especially since they’re few and far between, I love to wear something fabulous and step outside my comfort zone a little. I wouldn’t exactly describe my style as trendy – I typically wear more basic pieces and spruce them up with little trends here and there – but I saw this crop top/skirt ensemble in Bloomies a few weeks ago and just fell in love! I think part of the reason why I’m ok with it is because it only shows a teeny bit of belly, and the top has short sleeves which helps balance out the lack of fabric elsewhere. I wore this a few weeks ago to a bachelorette party in Charleston and got so many compliments! What do you like to wear when you go out?

mixed prints & distressed denim

I am SO unbelievably excited that it’s actually starting to feel like spring! I realize that’s kind of all I talk about, haha. Long winter. Today I took a little walk to Starbucks and it was amazing – 60 degrees!! In case you’ve been following my treatment, I’m now allowed to go out for a few minutes here and there – back to normal life on Thursday! :) :)

When the weather warms up, my favorite outfits usually involve some type of cardigan/jacket/blazer. Adding layers to a look is something I absolutely love about fall and winter, and I really don’t see why that should have to change when it gets warmer, unless it’s just unbearably hot. What I also love about adding a jacket is that it helps transition from one season to another quite seamlessly. The JCrew tweed peplum jacket I’m wearing in this post can be really wintery, but paired with a nautical striped tee and cropped distressed denim it helps bring the whole look into early spring. And this tee is amazing. It actually has gold zipper detail at the shoulders! I have a feeling I’m going to be wearing it a lot…so stay tuned. I can’t find the exact one on the JCrew website, but I linked a similar one! It’s pretty recent, so it may still be available in stores.

Hope all my teacher friends on break are enjoying every moment!

it’s a spring thing

Hey guys!! Thanks for being patient with me while I took a little hiatus from blogging! My life is a little crazy right now as you know if you’ve been following me on Insta, so something kind of had to give. But now I’m back and having the best time dressing for my favorite season! :)

Well, I guess it’s not quite spring in NYC yet, but we’re definitely getting there. And that’s great for me, because I absolutely loooove spring fashion. When the weather starts to warm up, I love to pair breezy tops with light jackets and cute flats and call it a day. Leather jackets are such a huge wardrobe staple, and I really don’t think you can have too many. I always find myself wearing them in totally different ways, so it helps to have a few different styles and colors to choose from. The one I’m wearing in this post is an old favorite – it just keeps getting softer every year I have it in my closet! What are you most excited about this season?

valentine’s day look

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and while I’m not one who goes crazy over the holiday in general, I’m also never going to pass up an excuse to dress in theme. I don’t really feel the need to go head-to-toe pink and red hearts, but a pop here or there really does the trick. I think this outfit would be perfect for Valentine’s Day date night. I started with this fabulous skirt that I had been eyeing at Zara for months (it was on sale for like $15 when I went last week and I finally gave in), added a navy top & boots, and topped it off with this BaubleBar statement necklace & a red lip.

over-the-knee boots

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen me in my Stuart Weitzman 5050 boots about a thousand times. There’s really no other way to say it, I am obsessed with them. I have them in black leather and navy suede and I wear them literally ALL the time. They are hands-down my favorite winter shoe, and my favorite boot altogether. What else can I say? Great investment. I love them with such a wide variety of outfits, from sweater dresses to flirty skirts and everything in between, but I think my favorite is pairing them with a cozy sweater and jeans. For this outfit, I did just that, adding this fabulous statement necklace for that all-important bit of bling.

faux fur

Right about now every freezing, icy bit of me is ready for it to be spring in NYC. Though I have to admit, I really do love throwing on my favorite faux fur infinity scarf on a cold day. It’s seriously warm and snuggly, and I love the texture it adds to any outfit. Since I wanted the scarf to be the focal point of this outfit, I kept everything else really basic – high waisted skinnies, black ankle boots, black leather jacket, black tee, and a neutral ostrich (faux, obviously) bag. The scarf is from last season and there’s an updated version this year – that one’s on sale for $12.99. No I am not kidding. I just bought it in Lynx. Last year I bought a couple as gifts too – so cute! Scroll down for the link.IMG_1554IMG_1545 IMG_1549 IMG_1558 IMG_1560 IMG_1564 IMG_1570 IMG_1571 IMG_1574
