One of my favorite outfits to wear to school in the Fall is a blazer, booties, and a huge scarf. It’s so easy and comfortable for sitting on the rug with the kids all day, but the blazer still makes the look polished. This scarf is absolutely delicious in person, and it’s on sale for under $25!! I’m also in love with Carla Mancini bags, and I get them at a discount whenever they’re on HauteLook (they’re sold out now, but check back every now and then if you’re interested!) Hope you guys have a fabulous weekend!!

finally fall

Happy Fall, lovers!!! Sorry I’ve been a little MIA on the blog, but now that I’ve gotten my class up and running and the craziness of September is behind me, I’m back! Fall is arguably the best season for a number of reasons, but the obvious reason for me is the clothes! I am such a layerer (is that a word? I think no, but just go with me) and being able to throw a blazer or leather jacket on with a  pair of booties and run out the door is just the best. Speaking of booties, I have been on the hunt for a great pair of brown booties since last year, and I finally found them! Check these out (they also come in other colors) and I promise you won’t be disappointed. Also, I got this blazer/coat/not sure what to call it but you get the idea from Zara in London when my mom and I went this summer and I’m so glad I did! And I’m so glad they still have it so you guys can share in the amazingness! Now off to arrange my pumpkins… :)

boyfriend jeans

I don’t know why, but lately I’ve been really into putting together outfits around different styles of denim. Last week it was flared, this week, it’s boyfriend. I guess you could call these a modified version of boyfriend jeans, though, because I don’t do very well with downright sloppy. This pair has the right amount of slouch and rips without completely looking like I’m wearing men’s jeans. Anytime I wear really distressed jeans, I think it’s important to keep the rest of the look polished. A suede jacket, structured bag, and stiletto booties do the trick!

In the spirit of full disclosure, people looked at me like I was completely out of my mind when G and I shot this look. First – it’s absolutely freezing out. Second – we’re still trying to figure out my new camera and were up and down the street taking pics of each other for like a half hour, haha :)

textured bottoms

Incorporating texture into an outfit makes a look a whole lot more interesting. Usually, we add texture on top (think: a nubby sweater, suede or leather collar, chunky statement necklace…you get the idea). But sometimes, it’s nice to add texture on the bottom. Since textured bottoms tend to make a statement even more so than they do on top, you’ll want to keep the rest of the look pretty basic. For this look, I paired these quilted faux leather skinnies with a basic tee and neutral jacket. It gives an outfit that cool factor without looking like you have too much going on at once. I would wear this outfit for a night out, or if I switched out the booties for high flat boots and added a chunky scarf, I would easily wear this for daytime too!IMG_1598IMG_1578 IMG_1594 IMG_1595

faux fur

Right about now every freezing, icy bit of me is ready for it to be spring in NYC. Though I have to admit, I really do love throwing on my favorite faux fur infinity scarf on a cold day. It’s seriously warm and snuggly, and I love the texture it adds to any outfit. Since I wanted the scarf to be the focal point of this outfit, I kept everything else really basic – high waisted skinnies, black ankle boots, black leather jacket, black tee, and a neutral ostrich (faux, obviously) bag. The scarf is from last season and there’s an updated version this year – that one’s on sale for $12.99. No I am not kidding. I just bought it in Lynx. Last year I bought a couple as gifts too – so cute! Scroll down for the link.IMG_1554IMG_1545 IMG_1549 IMG_1558 IMG_1560 IMG_1564 IMG_1570 IMG_1571 IMG_1574

these are a few of my favorite things…

Ok so first of all, I would like to apologize for being the worst blogger ever!!! I’m having a hard time finding the right time to take pics because it’s so insanely cold in NYC! For this look, we just braved it. Not going to lie, I thought my fingers might fall off, but whatever it takes in the name of fashion…right?? I’m really going to try to be better, I promise!

Anyway, since I last posted, the fashion gods must have seriously taken a liking to me because guess what?! I got leather skinnies! How odd that I just recently posted how it would never happen for me. So here’s what happened: I was in Atlanta on a girls’ trip with my mom right after Christmas and we went consignment shop hunting (are you surprised?). We found this great shop called Labels and low and behold when I first walked in I spotted this pair of Hudson leather skinnies (tags still attached, mind you)! I thought there was no way, but they fit like a glove and just begged me to take them home. I’ve worn them half a dozen times already and I can think of about a thousand more outfits in which they’d look great. They’re so versatile and really can be worn with anything, but in this look I paired them with a comfy chambray top I recently picked up at TJMaxx, a fabulous boucle sweater that I got at the Alice & Olivia sample sale, and my favorite booties!

faux leather

If you’re like me, when I look into the crystal ball of my future closet, I sadly do not see a pair of lambskin leather pants (they’re only in the dream version of my future closet). But fret not my chic friends! So many designers have figured out ways of making faux leather just as luxe and fabulous as the real thing. So, my fellow Sandra Dee wannabes, here’s a pair from Club Monacoknow you’ll love just as much as I do! Oh, and did I mention they’re seriously on sale? We’re talking a major markdown. If you end up getting them (or another pair that are just as fab), send me photos of how you styled them! I would love to see your take on this wardrobe staple.
