peace of mind for mama

Hi guys! I know I’ve been such a slacker on my blog but I feel like I have a good excuse since I just (can I still say just?) had a baby! But I wanted to share something with you that has been really amazing in my first few months of motherhood with the hope that it’s able to give you some peace of mind like it did me!

I’m not generally a nervous person, but in the months leading up to giving birth I started to wonder how I would handle all the things that moms have to worry about when it comes to their kids. One of the things that was really important to me before Liv was born was that she start sleeping in her crib right away as soon as we got home from the hospital. I know it’s not something lots of Moms choose, but it was just something I wanted to do. But once I decided that was something I wanted, I started to wonder how I would feel having her in the other room with the video monitor being the only way I could tell if she was ok – what if I fell asleep and wasn’t looking at the monitor and she needed me? I started to research what other moms did, and that’s when I found Owlet. Owlet is a smart sock that monitors your baby’s oxygen levels and heart rate while they sleep. If the levels drop below normal, or if the baby stops breathing, Owlet alerts you on your phone or on this little base station (actually really cute and I don’t even mind it on our nightstand) that it comes with. Even though our apartment isn’t big and Liv is sleeping in her room right next door, it’s really nice to know that if she really needed me, I would know right away.

Click here to learn more about Owlet and get $15 off now through October 31st!

PS: How delicious are these legs?!

WatchJORD wood watch Fieldcrest Series in Dark Sandalwood

Hey Guys!

Happy Fall :) Now that the weather in NYC is getting cooler, I couldn’t be happier to break out all my favorite Fall accessories! If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed I wear a watch pretty much every day. As a teacher, it’s always really important that I know exactly what time it is throughout the day, but I also think a watch is one of the coolest fashion accessories that can really add to an outfit. To be honest, though, I tend to be a little lazy with my watch, and I don’t really switch it up as much as I want to.

However, I recently discovered JORD wood watches, and I’m obsessed! I got the one above which is the Fieldcrest series in dark sandalwood, which is this really beautiful chocolate brown color. Having this new watch has really inspired me to up my watch game (and in turn, my bracelet game…) Basically my arms are just a lot happier than they were before. If you feel like your watch could use an update and you don’t want to spend a ton, check out JORD. The watches are at a really good price point to get for yourself or as a gift (they come in a really beautiful box – shown above). I’m currently hosing a contest to win a coupon toward your very own! The winner of the contest will receive a $75 coupon to JORD, and all other entries (!!!) will win a $20 coupon to JORD! So basically, if you enter, you automatically WIN! My favorite kind of contest :) Contest ends 10/31.

Can’t wait to see how you style yours! Thanks for stopping by!

Maxi: PinkBlush Maternity (on sale!!) / Wedges: Badgley Mishka (on sale!!) / Sunnies: Tory Burch / Necklace: BaubleBar

Ok, ok, I am officially the #worstbloggerever. Can I use pregnancy as an excuse?? It seems to work well on just about everything else…ha. But seriously, I have totally neglected the blog since I announced my pregnancy and I’ve been feeling so guilty about it! I’d like to say I’m going to up my blogging game in the next few months, but with a new baby coming this summer I just don’t know if I can make any promises! I do have some other really awesome pieces (baby-related and otherwise) to share with you guys, though, so I’m going to make every effort to post on here more.

It’s been a lot easier for me to stay up-to-date with posting on Insta, and if you’ve been following along, you’ve probably noticed I’m not that into your typical “maternity” clothes. I’ve really been trying to make most of my regular clothing work, and supplementing with a few things here and there that just wouldn’t work without a different cut. Bonus if I can wear it during and after pregnancy! For my maternity wardrobe, the only things  I’ve bought that are actually “maternity” are jeans, a couple long tanks, long and short sleeved tees, and a few dresses like this maxi I’m wearing in the photos above. One of the reasons why I love this dress is because I’m planning on wearing it after I have the baby too because without the belly bump it’ll just fall nicely to the floor.

This dress is by a company called PinkBlush Maternity, and they have some really cute pieces that can be worn both during and after pregnancy (they also have a non-maternity line). I love throwing on a maxi when the weather is warm with just a light jacket over it and some fun accessories because it’s SO easy, and that’s kind of the name of my game these days. Anyway, I’m so excited to share with you guys because I’m hosting a giveaway right now where you can win a $75 gift card to PinkBlush!! See my post on Insta for rules on how to enter.

Thanks for stopping by and being patient with the biggest blogging slacker in NYC! :)

Scarf: SoCal Gems / Boots: Stuart Weitzman / Hat: JCrew

A few months into winter, I start to miss my cute little leather jackets that get so much wear in the spring and fall! So sometimes I like to add them as an extra layer in the winter, almost like a blazer. Yesterday it was freezing, so I wore a black sweater dress with leggings and my OTK black boots, a giant blanket scarf, and my leather moto jacket as an extra layer. Also this weather kind of limits my photo location because G won’t let me go outside without a jacket (ha), so my classroom had to do for this one!

This week I’m so excited to be co-hosting a link-up – look at me using all these bloggery terms – with  Elle from Living in Color Style and Jacqueline from Stylin’ in St. Louis! To link-up and see how they styled their winter layers, follow the directions & click the link below! Update: The link isn’t working right now, but head to Living in Color Style and Stylin’ in St. Louis to see their cute looks!!

Happy Monday, guys!! This past week MTC hit a big milestone as I reached 5,000 followers on Instagram! Scarf: SoCal Gems Blazer: Banana Republic / Jeans: Genetic Denim / Booties: Sam Edelman / Sunnies: Karen Walker / Bag: Carla Mancini

One of my favorite outfits to wear to school in the Fall is a blazer, booties, and a huge scarf. It’s so easy and comfortable for sitting on the rug with the kids all day, but the blazer still makes the look polished. This scarf is absolutely delicious in person, and it’s on sale for under $25!! I’m also in love with Carla Mancini bags, and I get them at a discount whenever they’re on HauteLook (they’re sold out now, but check back every now and then if you’re interested!) Hope you guys have a fabulous weekend!!

Happy Fall, lovers!!! Sorry I’ve been a little MIA on the blog, but now that I’ve gotten my class up and running and the craziness of September is behind me, I’m back! Fall is arguably the best season for a number of reasons, but the obvious reason for me is the clothes! I am such a layerer (is that a word? I think no, but just go with me) and being able to throw a blazer or leather jacket on with a  pair of booties and run out the door is just the best. Speaking of booties, I have been on the hunt for a great pair of brown booties since last year, and I finally found them! Check these out (they also come in other colors) and I promise you won’t be disappointed. Also, I got this blazer/coat/not sure what to call it but you get the idea from Zara in London when my mom and I went this summer and I’m so glad I did! And I’m so glad they still have it so you guys can share in the amazingness! Now off to arrange my pumpkins… :)
